Hello Again!

Well well well, you think I forgot about you guys. Turns out I didn't! I have been uber busy lately and just haven't found the time to update the blog. Fret not! I am now going to start updating again. You will still get the same kind of stuff, just a bit more variety. I am going to try to do more mac freeware and tutorials, guitar stuff, cars, and rollerblading. I may even start doing some artwork again. So stay tuned for an interesting summer.

Thanks for your patience with my long absence. I will not do this again!

RIP Dimebag Darrell and John Lennon

Today marks the 4th anniversary of the death of Dimebag Darrell and the 28th anniversary of John Lennon. Both of these men were highly talented musicians in there genres. Dimebag was known for his signature Dime squeals, guitar shred, and heart pounding riffs. On December 8, 2004 he was violently shot in the head multiple times by an enraged fan who came on stage during the opening song. Dimebag was shot dead right in front of his brother (Vinnie Paul), the rest of Damageplan, and a crowd of adoring fans. On that dreadful night, the world lost one of the greatest metal guitarists to ever live. Dime's name still lives on through fans and the many Dean signature guitars. We will miss Dimebag forever.
John Lennon was primarily the rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. Although, he did play some lead guitar, harmonica, and bass on the song "Let It Be." Now that I have mentioned let it be, I have a little story to share. This morning at my school we had a liturgy. During communion the Liturgy Band played the famous Beatles song, "Let It Be." It was a great cover of the song and it included one of our teachers who has a phenomenal voice. After the liturgy I mentioned to my friend, the keyboard player in the band, that is was the 28th anniversary of the death of John Lennon. I asked him if they did this on purpose. His answer was, "We had no clue until after the liturgy that it was the anniversary of his death." Nonetheless, it was a great tribut to John Lennon.

May the souls of John Lennon and Dimebag Darrell rest in peace.

Youtube of the Week: Vol.1, Episode 7

In memory of the death of Dimebag Darell, I have 2 videos to share. The first is probably my favortie guitar solo ever. The solo is from Pantera's "Floods." Each time I listen to this solo, I get chills. This has to be one of the most emotional guitar solos ever written/played. The second shows the comical side of Dimebag. In this video, Dimebag gets a phone man to come to his house. While he is there he keeps on screwing around with the guy. The phone man is cool with it, but Dime just makes this occurance so funny.

Enjoy!

Youtube of the Week: Vol.1, Episode 6

We have two videos this week! Yeah! So the first of the two is of the UK beatboxing champion, Beardyman. In this video Beardyman does a kitchen themed beatbox. I am still amazed by this video each time I see it. Check out his other videos while you are on youtube. The second video of the week is probably one of the most phenomenal rollerblading sections in the history of rolllerblading. The skater is Pat Lennen and in this edit from "Leading the Blind" he goes bigger than any rollerblader would dare to go. Even if you don't rollerblade you have to admit that this takes some serious skills. I would never be able to do this in my life.

Enjoy!

Youtube of the Week: Vol.1, Episode 5

Is Jesus a friend of yours? Well he sure is to these guys. This video is of the Christian band, Sonseed. This is possibly one of the funniest videos I have ever seen on the internet. Just look at the people, what they are wearing, the facial expressions, and of course the lyrics. Now without further-a-do, I present to you Sonseed performing Jesus is a Friend of Mine.

Man Escapes Jail, Solid Snake Style

Yesterday, a 42 year old Turkish Man escaped from a German jail while inside a cardboard box. At the end of his shift of his prison job, the man hid in a box and was carried out by the courier service with other boxes. When he was put into the truck he escaped. He cut a hole in the tarp of the truck and jumped out of it when it was just outside of the prison grounds. The truck driver noticed the flapping tarp and immediately contacted the police. Most likely, the man had accomplices to help him when he was outside the prison. Now a manhunt has commenced in Western Germany. Warden Beate Peters says that the escape was "an embarrassing incident."

The Ledgendary Dummer, Mitch Mitchell, Dies at 61

Mitch Mitchell, former drummer of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, was found dead today at 3 a.m. in his room at the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon. He was the last remaining member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Luckily, his death was of natural causes, unlike Hendrix whose death has been questioned for years. Mitch was there for all of the classic.iconic hendrix moments. Woodstock, Monterey, Isles of Wight, you name it and he was there behind his drum set letting Jimi feed off of his beats to create some of the most well known music of this century.

Mitchell's final performance was on Friday night at Portland's Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. This was the last stop on the West Coast leg of the Experience Hendrix tour. According to Terry Currier, owner of the Music Millenium Shop, Mitchell was looking pale and tired. He only ended up playing one song before the sold-out concert.

May the soul of Mitch Mitchell rest in peace. May he be reunited with Hendrix and Noel Redding in heaven to play their music for all eternity. Mitch Mitchell, you will be missed dearly in the world of music just as we miss those like Dimebag Darrel, Jimi Hendrix, Curt Cobain, and Freddie Mercury.

RIP MITCH MITCHELL
